1700 Vine Street: Visions of a Sustainable Over-the-Rhine

This blog was created to chronicle the rehabilitation of 1700 Vine Street, a vacant, condemned building in Over-the-Rhine. Reid and I purchased the building in January 2008 and have been spending our evenings and weekends fixing it up ever since. Construction is moving slowly, but one day we will move in and call this former-disaster our LEED certified home. While rehab takes a lot of time, we are both learning a lot and having fun! Preparing the lot for landscaping

BEFORE PICTURE

Prior to today, a tall chain link fence surrounded the vacant lot at 1700 Vine Street. Parts were falling down and all of it looked uninviting and certainly didn't keep any trash out.

AFTER PICTURE

Today, the fence was removed in preparation for Keep Cincinnati Beautiful's Future Blooms Vacant Lot Stabilization Project. KCB has contracted a landscaping company to beautify vacant lots around the city with the mission of eliminating blight and reducing crime by beautifying streets and vacant lots.
