1700 Vine Street: Visions of a Sustainable Over-the-Rhine

This blog was created to chronicle the rehabilitation of 1700 Vine Street, a vacant, condemned building in Over-the-Rhine. Reid and I purchased the building in January 2008 and have been spending our evenings and weekends fixing it up ever since. Construction is moving slowly, but one day we will move in and call this former-disaster our LEED certified home. While rehab takes a lot of time, we are both learning a lot and having fun! The roofer reinforced the roof beams in the front building. Some unknown number of years ago, there was a significant fire on the 3rd floor front of the building and the fire department had sawn through a large section of the roof. Over time, those weakened beams sunk and had to be pushed back up and sistered with new lumber.
